I/We, agree to Jersey Classic Car Hire holding a returnable Security Deposit of £500 providing all conditions of hiring are met.
I/We, the undersigned, hereby agree to hire from the owner the motor vehicle described overleaf for the period and charges stated, and will not under any circumstances allow any other person (persons) to drive the vehicle other than those specified on this rental agreement.
I/We acknowledge receipt of the vehicle in sound roadworthy condition complete in every respect, except for the particulars of damage described overleaf and I/We undertake to return it in similar condition on completion of the rental period.
I/We further undertake to return the vehicle to the owner immediately should anything be defective, or the vehicle, wheels or tyres thereof, sustain damage of any kind whilst in/our custody.
I/We shall not drive or permit the vehicle to be driven on any slipway, beach or sands.
I/We understand that collision damage insurance (C.D.I.) does not cover damage caused to the vehicle whilst being driven on slipways, beaches, sands, hotel car parks, private roads, private car parks, or property (without general access to the public).
I/We shall not carry any number of passengers in the vehicle in excess of the number stated.
If I/We am/are involved in an accident in which damage or injury occurs and whether it is my/our rental vehicle or not I/We am/are required to notify the police (tel. no. 612612) and the owner immediately. I/We agree to remain with the vehicle to assist the police with their accident report. If the police do not attend the scene of the accident I will take the name(s) and address(es) of the other party(ies) involved and witnesses, vehicle registration numbers and insurance details from the windscreen disc. I/We shall convey such information to the owner immediately and further assist the owner in so far as any legal or insurance claims involved. Failure to do so is in contravention to the conditions of this rental agreement and I/We may be held fully responsible for all damage and/or injuries which may have occurred.
I/We agree not to admit liability for any damage to property or injury to persons caused whilst the vehicle is in/our custody.
I/We agree that if I/We am/are convicted for 1) driving under the influence of drink or drugs or 2) charged for dangerous driving then I/We will pay the owner the amount of any damages suffered by the vehicle whilst on hire to me/us.
In the event of clause 8) and damage being caused to the Jersey Classic Car Hire vehicle I/We agree to pay the owner an “of the road” charge equal to the public tariff rate until the date that the vehicle is fully repaired.
In the event of clause 8) I/we agree that this rental agreement will cease forthwith without vehicle replacement or refund for the unexpired hire period.
In the event of clause 8) I/We agree to pay all subsequent costs regarding the recovery of monies e.g. lawyers fees, debt collection charges, accrued interest on outstanding accounts.
I/We agree that should the rental period of the vehicle specified in the schedule hereto exceed the stated times and dates I/We shall pay the excess charges on vehicle return at a rate not less that the public tariff rate for hire and insurance.
I/We understand that I/We am,/are responsible for the safe custody of the vehicle whilst it is on hire to me/us and I/we undertake to exercise reasonable precautions for the security of the vehicle.
I/We shall not carry passengers for hire of reward, nor shall I/We use the vehicle for the transportation of goods, the propulsion or towing of any vehicle or trailer, or in motor sports events.
I/We understand that I/We have stated my/our age/s correctly and that I/We am/are the holder/s of a valid driving licence authorising me/us to drive vehicles of the same type as the vehicle specified in the schedule hereto.
I/We am/are conversant with the traffic laws of jersey and, in particular, I/We understand the restrictions of the speed limits and the restriction of the yellow line at road junctions.
I/We declare that all the particulars in this contract are true and correct and that no facts have been omitted misrepresented or misstated, or any information withheld, with which the insurers of the vehicle should be acquainted.
I/We agree that this declaration shall also form the basis of the contract between the insurers of the vehicle and myself/ourselves although it is not to read as an insurance certificate or cover note.
I/We agree that I/We are responsible for the payment of any penalties due arising from my/our infringements of any motoring laws of jersey.
I/We agree to pay any monies incurred under the traffic offences, including any parking fines.
I understand that some rentals are subject to a specified excess regardless of payment of collision damage insurance.This amount will be shown in the insurance excess box on the front of the rental agreement.
I/We accept that I/we alone are responsible for the condition of and the proper fitting and use of any baby and/or booster seats whether supplied by me and I confirm that JCCH shall not be liable in damages for any personal injury or death arising from such condition, fitting
or use.
I certify that:
a. I have no physical defects.
b. I have driven motor vehicles of this category regulary during the past twelve months as the holder of a current full licence.
c. I have not had any proposal or policy declined or cancelled or renewal refused or special terms imposed by any insurance company, association or underwriters.
d. I have not been convicted of any offence concerning the driving of motor vehicles.
e. I have not had my driving licence endorsed or suspended at any time (unless detailed overleaf).
No Smoking is allowed inside the vehicle.
No animals are allowed inside the vehicles.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL HIRERS
SPEED LIMIT: Maximum permitted speed 40 m.p.h. (15 m.p.h. - 30 m.p.h. in certain areas) on the Island of Jersey. At all times the speed of the vehicle must be regulated according to the traffic conditions prevailing at the time
THE INSURANCE is invalid if you let any other person drive the vehicle or if you take the vehicle on to any slipway, beach or sands
Local traffic regulations must be obeyed if traffic is to circulate smoothly. A copy of the regulations may be obtained free of charge from the Motor Traffic Office, La Collette, St.Helier, Jersey.
YELLOW LINES mark the junction of a minor road with a major road, and traffic approaching a yellow line must slow down, and if necessary stop to give absolute right of way to traffic proceeding along the major road.
STOP if you are involved in an accident, telephone the police Immediately and do not move the vehicle until given permission; inform vehicle owners at once. Take names and addresses of all parties involved and of all witnesses.

L’ASSURANCE n’est pas valable si vous laissez une autre personne conduire le véhicule ou si vous le mettez sur une de lancement , des iges ou sables. Le règlement local sur la circulation automobile doit étre observé pour permettre au trafic de circuler librement. On peut obenir gratuitement une copie de règlement au “Motor Traffic Office”, La Collette, St Helier, Jersey.
LES LIGNES JAUNES indiquent le croisement d’une route secondaire avec une route principale et le trafic doit ralentir à l`approche d’une ligne jaune et arrêter s’il faut pour donner la prioité absolute au trafic circulant sur la routé principale.
ARRETEZ si vous êtes en cause dans un accident, télephonez immédiatement à la police et ne déplacer pas le véhicule avant d’en avoir reçu la permission. Informez immédiatement les propriétaires du véhicle. Relevez les noms et adresses de toutes les parties en cause et de tous les témoines possibles. POLICE: 612612
